The Westmont Public Library is seeking a creative, innovative, and friendly team member to join our youth services department on a part-time basis. Qualified applicants will enjoy serving a diverse public, be proficient working with a variety of technologies, and be passionate about learning.

Primary duties involve participating in collection development and working at the youth services desk to provide reference assistance and readers’ advisory. Additionally, this position will participate in planning, presenting, and evaluating programs that serve the educational and entertainment interests of Westmont residents.

In addition to departmental responsibilities, staff members have opportunities to participate on committees, advance their professional development, and represent the library at special events.

The position includes morning and afternoon shifts, as well as evening and weekend rotations.

Requirements:

An LTA certificate or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Knowledge of children’s and teen literature
Knowledge of current trends in children’s and teen programming
Previous experience working with children
At least one year of experience in a public service environment
