Function of Position:

Assist Computing Support and Printing Services staff in instructing and assisting patrons with the use of computers and peripherals.

Duties of Position:
  • Assist the Computing Support and Printing Services classified staff in instructing and assisting patrons with the use of computers and peripherals, printers, photocopiers and microform readers.
  • Assist in providing information about department services in person and on the telephone.
  • Operate a cash register and perform print card transactions.
  • Assist in replenishing supplies and basic maintenance of computers, printing and copying equipment.
Experience and Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.

If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Experience with Microsoft Office software. Ability to work independently. Ability to work in a busy public services environment. Willingness and ability to quickly learn about computers and other equipment.

Consideration will be given to student who can work two or more semesters.

Equipment & Working Conditions:

PCs, peripherals, printers, black/white and color photocopiers, microform readers, cash registers, printing system, phones, fax machine.
Between semesters, student assistant hours may be limited or not available.
Manual dexterity is required for some of the duties involving equipment.
Lifting of boxes of paper and other supplies may be required.
Exposure to electromagnetic fields from computer video display; comes in contact with toner for laser printers and microform readers/printers.
