Job Summary:

This position is located at the Northwestern University Oak Grove Library Center in Waukegan, IL. The Oak Grove Library Center is not close to public transportation.
Involved in all phases of the orderly processing of materials from the various university library locations using computerized inventory control system for storage of properly sized materials and retrieving materials as requested by library patrons. Provides digital scans of partial and complete books. May drive the library van from the facility to the campus libraries and operate material handling equipment such as an Orderpicker to shelve items in the storage module.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Retrieval/Refile Processing
Accesses Voyager, Illiad and LAS systems to collect data for retrievals scan requests and re-files. Creates pick lists for retrieval and scan requests. Creates and uploads file of returned items to be re-filed to PDT. Uses flatbed scanner and specialized software to scan articles or portions of materials and makes them available to requestor electronically.

2. Data Entry
Creates paper work order, uses barcode scanner and computer workstation to access LAS inventory control software to associate books to book tray or verifies books/tray association, completes work order information loading information into the LAS system.

3. Accessions Prep
Unloads Van, vacuums books, assembles book trays and applies tray I.D. labels, duplicates and affixes barcodes to books, sorts books by size and fills appropriate sized book trays documenting count and arrival date.

4. Shelving Module Processing
Operates orderpicker to perform tray to shelf locating of filled book trays, to retrieve items requested for circulation or scanning and to re-file items returned from circulation.

5. Transportation
Drives van to and from university libraries. Loads and unloads totes and other materials transported between locations. Delivers retrieved items to assigned delivery points.

6. Meetings/Training
Participates in regular team meetings, training and interaction with staff at Main Library.

7. Additional Responsibilities
Receives and stores supplies from vendors, may use walkie stacker motorized lift to put away pallet loads, participates in routine housekeeping and performs other tasks as required or assigned.

Min Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
2. Familiarity with inventory control software.
3. Familiarity with digital scanning equipment, software and processes.
4. Experience working with detailed processes.
5. Valid Driver’s License with verifiable clean driving record.
6. Able to lift up to 75 lbs and push carts weighing up to 300 lbs.
7. Will be required to pass university provided Orderpicker training/licensing course.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Warehouse/Storage experience.
3. Library experience.
