Wauconda Area Library (WAL) is currently seeking a forward-thinking, collaborative, creative and energetic Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Collection & Information Services Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for working with the Programming Team to plan and implement programs for all ages to a diverse community. The Program Coordinator must be actively engaged and committed to serving the Wauconda Area community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Anticipate trends to develop programs to meet changing community needs.
  • Take calculated risks to continually provide new, fresh programs.
  • Plan and implement cutting-edge technology programs for all ages in the library’s digital classroom.
  • Plan and implement large scale programs.
  • Evaluate programs and presenters for success and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate library participation in community events.
  • Partner with community organizations.
  • Attend community organization meetings and events to promote the library and its services.
  • Participate in RAILS and other similar programming networking groups.
  • Participate in staff meetings, library-wide committees, and assist the director as needed and Management Team with special projects and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three years of experience planning and implementing programs in a public library setting or for a non-for-profit organization – library experience is preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee Programming Team members.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and to host or oversee programs on multiple nights and weekends.
  • Ability to be diplomatic and professional while interacting with community organizations, presenters, and patrons.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of public library policies, services, and practices.
