Schedule Information:  Monday – Thursday, 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Library employees should be flexible during the hours the Library is open which is 7:30 am -10:00 pm.

Hours Per Week: 24 hours/week; 46 weeks/year

Benefits: Prorated Sick & Vacation; Holiday Pay; and 2 Harper Tuition Waivers per semester

Work Conditions: Requires moving around the library approximately 80% of the time.  Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Duties of Position:  Responsible for providing public service within the Circulation department during evening or weekend hours.

Responsible for opening and closing the Library.

Registers students, staff, and community borrowers and updates borrowing status of patrons.

Checks materials in and out.

Collects fines and fees for lost, damaged and overdue materials.

Receives, processes, and helps maintain reserve materials for faculty.

Provides information to patrons in person and by telephone, and makes necessary referrals; assists patrons as needed.

Maintains stacks and general physical space of the Library.

Inspects damaged materials and refers them to appropriate department for repair or replacement.

Troubleshoots copiers, printers, DVD players, microform reader/printers, computers, print stations and book-scanning stations.

Assists with library marketing initiatives, including helping to create displays.

Assists in directing the day-to-day activities of student aides.

Processes materials borrowed and lent through ISH consortium, notifying patrons that requested item(s) have arrived and returning items to the lending libraries.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:  High school graduate or equivalent.  Some college.  Library Technical Assistant (LTA) certificate preferred.

Experience Requirements:  One year library circulation experience preferred and customer service experience preferred.  PC experience required.
