Title:  Library Aide (Funding Source: Title 1 Grant)

Qualifications:  Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of college credit in a recognized institution of higher education.

Demonstrated physical fitness and freedom from communicable disease as required by School Code. (Section 24-5)

Reports to:        Principal or designee

Job Goal:        To provide a well organized, smoothly functioninglibrary environment where students can take full advantage of available materials.

Become familiar with Library collection in order to assist teachers with special projects and activities, co-teach library usage lessons in coordination with classroom teachers, organize library materials for teachers on specific topics/projects.

Coordinate volunteer schedules.

Order and receive books selected for library by principal/teachers, make suggestions for new materials for the library/ordering award winning books.

Maintain computer record system of all books and instructional materials, check in/check out books and related materials.

Maintain all materials in good condition and make repairs to materials when necessary.

Have a working knowledge of computer research and other programs/software related to the library.

Work with the Indian Prairie/Downers Grove/Westmont Libraries on programs (i.e.:  summer reading program, evening activities, guest speakers).

Work with teachers and principal to design and implement school wide reading incentive programs. (Read to Succeed, Ozzie Reading, AR reading, etc).

Perform other tasks and responsibilities that are assigned.

Terms of Employment:  Up to Ten Months; Six and three quarter hours per day; Hourly rate
