Department:  Lenhardt Library

Reports to: Library Public Services Manager

Regular or Seasonal: Regular

Full-time or Part-time:  Part-time, 20 hours per week including Saturdays

Supervises: Library volunteers

Position Overview:

Staff the Lenhardt Library’s circulation desk and provide exceptional customer service to all library users


In this role you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Staff  the circulation desk, circulate materials, and register new users
  • Answer questions from library users in-person and on the phone, and refer questions to other library staff as appropriate
  • Assist with shelf reading, book shelving, periodical shelving, stacks maintenance, and periodical maintenance
  • Track circulation desk statistics and produce monthly reports
  • Assist with digitization of historic journals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Excellent written, oral, and listening skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Expert in searching library online catalogs, databases, and the Internet
  • Completed coursework towards a Masters of Library and Information Science, or an earned Library Technical Assistant Certificate.

 Physical Demands:

The ability to lift, carry or push 15 pounds of library materials and climb a ladder.

This job requires frequent sitting, bending, and keyboarding and use of office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
