Job Title: Children’s Associate
Full Time
37.5 hours per week, including 1 evening and a regular rotation of Saturdays and Sundays
$18.87/hr
Position Description: 

Are you an intrepid investigator who loves to find the answers to tricky questions? Do Percy Jackson, Greg Heffley, and Ramona Quimby sound like old chums? Does a room full of toddlers make you want to sing and dance? We are looking for an exceptionally friendly, approachable, and team-oriented person to join the Children’s Department at the Glencoe Public Library. This position reports to the Head of Children’s Services, and works closely with all of the Children’s Department staff. Benefits include paid time off, IMRF, and health insurance. This is a great opportunity for current MLIS students!

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Experience working with children in a school, library, or comparable field
· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
· Knowledge of classic and current children’s media, including literature, films, and pop culture
· Competent and comfortable in use of current technology
· The ability to collaborate with teammates

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Provides reference, readers advisory, and technology instruction to patrons of all ages
· Assists library patrons in the use of digital and print resources
· Leads a regular storytime for preschool aged children
· Plans and implements a variety of programs for children ages 0-12 and their families
· Creates interactive features and promotional content, both within the library and on virtual platforms
· Represents the library through outreach within the community
