Middle School Teaching-Library Media Specialist

Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a Media Center Director at Deer Path Middle School-East for the 2016-2017 school year.


The DPM-E Media Center Director will:

  • Ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information;
  • Empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information;
  • Instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information;
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction, and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness;
  • Monitor the effective use of the Library Media Center;
  • Assist and extend curricular experiences;
  • Provide individual and group instruction in information retrieval in the classroom or library media center. This includes selecting, retrieving, analyzing, synthesizing, communicating and producing information.


  • A current Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Library Information Specialist or Library Media Specialist endorsement or enrolled in an Illinois approved program
  • Technology Specialist endorsement – preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school and district personnel
  • Knowledge of a broad range of informational literacy materials, resources, and practices in K-8 curriculum areas
  • Knowledge of best practice in informational literacy and 21st Century learning practices
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective organizational relationships
