Teacher Assistant-LMC Assistant

Perform duties to assist in the daily operations of the LMC and assist students and faculty with needs.  This is a full-time position.  Travel between two buildings.

Job Summary:
1. Assist students and staff with researching, locating and selecting materials and software applications. Instruct students in the use of research software and online sites.
2. Check in books and reshelf.
3. Assign work to and direct volunteers.
4. Check out audiovisual equipment: maintain schedule, deliver and set up equipment, resolve routine technical difficulties and retrieve equipment as needed. Replace malfunctioning parts and schedule service as needed.
5. Prepare new materials for placement in LMC. Generate barcodes and spine labels. Assist in cataloging new materials.
6. Clean and repair books.
7. Generate list of overdue books and prepare late notices. Collect late fees.
8. Assist with supervising students in the LMC and computer lab..
9. Generate LMC cards for new students.
10. Assist with book fairs: organize volunteers, take orders, tally sales and process orders.
11. Participate in year-end inventory of material collection, computer and audiovisual equipment.
12. Provide general clerical assistance to LMC Director as needed
13. Uses technology effectively to perform job-related tasks.  Demonstrate proficiency using the technology and computer-based programs provided by the District. Use these programs to effectively manage and organize files, communication, records and databases.

Performs other duties as assigned.

To be considered for a position as an LMC assistant, applicants MUST have a Professional Educator License with Stipulations (TASN or NCLB paraprofessional approval). Those with either a valid Illinois Professional Educator License or Substitute License are exempt from obtaining the approval.

For those without the above, applicants must meet at least one of the four requirements: 1. 60 semester hours of college-level credit; or 2. Completed paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB; or 3. Passed ETS ParaPro assessment (460 or higher); or 4. Passed WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on Instructional Support Inventory). Working Conditions: Library within an elementary school.

Rate of pay: $12.00/hour
