Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for hiring, training and supervising evening and weekend student workers for Materials Processing and Delivery Services.  Stacks management operations, and pulls for Interlibrary Loan and Patron Request during evening hours. Works to ensure that books are shelved within a 24 hour turnaround time. Assists in pulling books for transfer. Participates in planning major shifts of the collections. Pulls any requests that arrive in the evening. This position will also perform course reserve reformatting, including streaming and scanning. Digitization of audio and video will be carried out using a range of digital capture hardware and media editing software.

Work hours are Sunday-Thursday 1:30pm ‘ 10:00pm except during intersessions when hours may vary between 7:00am – 7:00pm Monday ‘ Friday.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains and oversees the work of student assistants who work during the evening. Assigns work and ensures they are carrying out their duties. Monitors productivity standards. Assists with preparing and revising department training manuals.
  • During evening hours, assists with shelving, shelf reading, shifting of collections. Re-shelves materials used in-house. Pulls books for transfer projects.
  • Along with other members of Materials Processing and Delivery Services, plan major shifting projects. Identify crowded areas in any shelving area and develop a plan to rectify the situation.
  • Works closely with the Patron Request Fulfillment Coordinator for pulling, processing and routing patron request during evening hours.
  • Assist with course reserve reformatting, including streaming and scanning. Effectively carry out digitization of audio and video using a range of digital capture hardware and media editing software. Perform quality control of digitized content.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years’ administrative support, or experience working in a library, bookstore or museum or other relevant experience required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Must be able to push heavy book trucks, move and unpack boxes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of an integrated library system, such as ALMA, or Voyager preferred.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Knowledge of Mac iOS preferred.
  • Knowledge of video editing software such as FinalCut Pro preferred.
