Part Time
34 hours per (two-week) pay period. Required to work from 5-9pm on Thursdays or Wednesdays and 1-2 Saturdays per month, plus some weekday daytime hours.
Starting at $14.01 per hour. Depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid vacation time and sick leave.
Position Description: 

Are you a customer-service oriented and tech-savvy person? Can you communicate clearly and effectively with public and staff? Are you familiar with Windows and Mac computers, web searching and emailing, Microsoft Office and Google Docs, Apple and Android tablets/smartphones with various apps, WiFi connection, printing, scanning and photocopying? Do you love helping people at different skill levels learn how to use a variety of technologies? Will you enjoy helping people be creative at our Makerspace? Are you capable of basic equipment troubleshooting? Do you have the ability to multitask, set priorites, make independent decisions, exercise discretion and maintain composure to meet patron and staff needs?

The Addison Public Library is looking for a qualified part-time Information Technology Services Clerk to provide training and assistance to patrons using computers and other library equipment as well as online resources and software applications. You are expected to instruct patrons with varying levels of technical ability in one-on-one and group settings on the use of technology. You will need to perform routine maintenance tasks on public computer workstations, printers and other equipment. You will also be promoting library technology programs and services. You are expected to stay current with technologies via continuing education. You will also need to be willing to take on other duties to help fulfill the library’s mission and goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1.      Extensive knowledge of hardware and software, including but not limited to: desktop computer, printer, scanner; laptop, tablet, smartphone and other mobile devices; Windows/OS/Android/iOS operating systems; Microsoft Office, Google Docs; Apple/Google creative apps; web searching and emailing; resume creation and editing; WiFi connection and printing, etc.

2.      Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on computers and other equipment.

3.      Ability to work and communicate effectively with public and staff.

4.      Ability to train computer users of all ages and skill levels.

5.      Ability to set priorities, make independent decisions, and exercise discretion with patrons and staff.

6.      Ability to handle multiple tasks, follow through tasks to completion, and meet deadlines.

7.      Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.

8.      Physical ability and manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment, read computer screens.

9.      Ability to reach, bend, and lift.

10.   Ability to move freely throughout the building.

11.   Bilingualism (English/Spanish or English/Polish) preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalency. Some college preferred.

Experience: One year related experience.

Evening and weekend hours required.

Access to transportation required.

Position Summary
Circulates library materials and provides general library services to library users.

Reporting Relationship

Essential Responsibilities
1. Circulates materials and equipment from the library.

2. Retrieves materials from behind the library circulation desk (magazines, A/V materials, reserves) for library users.

3. Creates and edits PSC patron records in the automated circulation system.

4. Assists students with using the online catalog and locating materials within the library.

5. Collects monies from library users including, but not limited to, service fees, overdue fines and replacement costs for library materials.

6. Assists with the operation of the public copy machines and ensures the copy machines and library printers are operational.

7. Shelves materials, reads assigned shelves daily and completes shelf reading forms.

8. Maintains library organization and cleanliness; gathers materials for counting in house use.

9. Schedules and provides access to student study rooms.

10. Tracks daily patron count throughout the day.

11. Enforces library policies and procedures; contacts security to assist with maintaining an academic atmosphere as necessary.

12. Assists in the computer lab with basic tech questions (e.g. printing, e-mail, WebAdvisor, D2L).

13. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned consistent with the role of this position.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School Diploma and 2 years customer service work experience.

2. Must pass a Library of Congress shelving test as determined by the Library Services Manager to be eligible for employment.

3. Ability to use the automated circulation system, online catalog and other computer based applications.

4. Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate’s Degree.

2. Work experience in a school or community college setting.

3. Work experience in an academic or public library.

4. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of computer programs.

Job Description: The Clarendon Hills Public Library is seeking a part-time Circulation Clerk. This position performs all Circulation Desk functions, including checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, accepting and processing reserve requests, answering and routing telephone calls, and interacting with patrons.

Schedule: This is a part-time position, 19 hours/week.  We are looking for someone who is available to work Mondays, 9 am – 1 pm; Fridays, 9 am – 5 pm; and Saturdays, 9 am – 4 pm.

Salary: $10.00/hour

Requirements: Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, be able to use computer technology in a library setting, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.  Must have high school diploma or equivalent.   Preference given to LTA or MLS students.
