Position Description: 
  • Responsible for copy cataloging and metadata production, data entry, and holdings maintenance in multiple library software systems.
  • Responsible for copy cataloging, data entry, and metadata production in multiple systems, as assigned.
  • Performs holdings maintenance in multiple systems, e.g.: adding or removing items from library collections; changing material locations data; etc.
  • Classifies library materials according to the Library of Congress Classification System and local library parameters.  Utilizes other schema as needed.
  • Assists with metadata creation and data maintenance for digital library projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as required – Examples may include (but are not limited to):
    • serials check-in and/or bindery preparation,
    • weeding projects,
    • inventories,
    • processing of donations,
    • assisting with processing of archival or special collections, etc.


  • Commitment to the educational mission of the School and respect for all members of the campus community;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Familiarity with cataloging, metadata, and related standards and practices;
  • Familiarity with library and archival processes for handling materials;
  • Proficiency with standard office hardware and software;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to learn new systems rapidly;
  • Ability to work productively as part of a team or independently.


  • Experience working in library technical services;
  • Hands-on experience with OCLC, Voyager, and CONTENTdm software;
  • Knowledge of MARC, AACR2, LCSH, and LC classification system;
  • Knowledge of Dublin Core and digital library standards.
  • Background in the visual arts, design, or architecture.
