Function of Position:

To assist with processing materials in the Technical Services area in the Library.

Duties of Position:

•Process new library materials for different locations within the Library.
•Types and applies labels for Library materials which includes: Books, Media (DVDs and CDs), Kits and Anatomy Models.
•Performs tasks using a computer with general office programs and specialized library software.
•Helps process materials withdrawn from the Library.
•Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours if applying for the fall, winter, or spring term OR must be enrolled in at least 1 credit hour during the summer term.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
(If a first semester student, cumulative GPA is waived.)

Current LTA student.
Office Technology classes in keyboarding and general Microsoft Office.

Accurate typing/keyboard skills; able to write legibly on narrow labels.
Attention to detail; ability to maintain concentration and accuracy.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate with office personnel.
Able to perform repetitive tasks and flexible to perform diverse duties.

Library or bookstore work experience a plus.
Would prefer a student who can work more than two consecutive semesters.

OCLC label computer workstation
Photocopy machine
Paper cutter
Office supplies: scissors, tape, glue, etc.
Cleaning fluids

Working Conditions:
Professional office atmosphere, must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Standing, book cart pushing, and light lifting are required.
Must be able to reach cabinets and shelving 6′ high with the use of a step stool.

Job Goal: To demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and skill in performing a variety of
administrative, technical and professional responsibilities in support of the
department and JTHS.
Performance Responsibilities
1. Maintains strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders consistently
maintaining a courteous, professional, and effective manner through all forms of communication.
2. Utilizes computer based procedures for retrieving information and developing reports, including but
not limited to placing orders with vendors, maintaining inventory, managing obligations and
processing p-card reports and check requests.
3. Effectively uses accounting software to accurately process purchase orders and monitor both
budget and activity accounts.
4. Maintains and utilizes various business machines necessary to perform related duties, including
but not limited to the copy/scan/fax machine.
5. Assists both students and staff with various issues within the Media Center including but not limited
to trouble shooting software issues, setting up student accounts and assisting the circulation desk.
6. Communicates with and provides a variety of services directly to students.
7. Designs and creates library materials and forms, marketing brochures, and newsletters.
8. Processes deposits for various activity accounts.
9. Exhibits working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and utilizes these applications to prepare
and manipulate documents and spreadsheets to develop accurate reports.
10. Updates and maintains SharePoint sites on JT Shares, JT Web and JT Teams; updates the
district’s website as assigned.
11. Exercises good judgment in handling confidential information and correspondence.
12.Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Terms of Employment: Annual (10) month contract
Salary: Salary to be determined in accordance with the Clerical Union contract.
Evaluation: Performance on job requirements will be evaluated annually by the supervisor in
accordance with Board and Administrative policy.

Addison Public Library- Adult Services

Adult Service Associate
Part-time 17 hours per week

The Adult Services Department has 2 Adult Services Associate positions open and is seeking enthusiastic and customer service oriented individuals.
The successful candidates will staff a busy public service desk helping Adults and Teens with popular materials. Broad knowledge of adult fiction required. Other duties include creating book displays, helping patrons with reader’s advisory and ready reference questions, helping patrons use the catalog and placing holds on both APL material and other libraries’ material. Leading book discussions, contributing to personal reading lists, collection development of popular materials, and creating bibliographies is also a part of this position.
In addition, this position also assists patrons in basic computer questions as well as helping them with the scanner/copier/fax. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, email, and other library software programs is required. Basic computer troubleshooting is also a part of the job.
Hours: Position #1: Tuesday: 12:45 – 9:15, Thursday 10:00-3:00, Every other Friday 8:45 – 5:15, 6 week Saturday/Sunday rotation.
Position #2: Monday 11-5, Tuesday 11-5, Wednesday 4:15 – 9:15.
Education: LTA or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Experience: Two years library experience in a public service position is required.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Salary: $16.29/per hour
