Hours: 37.5 hours per week (exempt salaried position) including evenings and weekends.

Primary Job Responsibilities: • Responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the Library’s Technical Services Department. Main responsibilities to overseeing the acquisitions and cataloging of library materials. Familiarity with MARC/RDA, original and copy cataloging. • Provide training, guidance, leadership and supervision to the Cataloging and Acquisitions Staff of the Technical Services Department. • Member of the Library Management Team. • Main support liaison for the Messenger Public Library Sirsi-Dynx ILS with the RAILS Illinois Library System’s MAGIC (Multitype Automation Group In Cooperation) Library Consortium. • Manager/Supervisor in-charge of facilities and staff one evening per week and one weekend per month. • Keeping current with developments in the profession. • Participates with the Library Management Team in the planning and implementing new library services. Required

Qualifications:  Preferred: Masters in Library and Information Science. Will give consideration to applicants with non-MLS (holding a B.A. and or LTA Certificate) with supervisory and work experience in at Technical Services Department of a Public Library.  Three years or more working In a Public Library Technical Services Department  Supervisory, management and budget experience in a public library environment  Experience using SIRSI-Dynix Workflows, Enterprise Online Catalog, and Technical Services and Acquisition/EDI Software System  Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to work independently and as a team leader  Comfortable working with new technologies and innovations in a constantly evolving environment  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels  Strong oral and written communication skills  Excellent customer service and team work skills  Desire Spanish language skills
